The 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is getting an update, but it will take a keen eye to see the changes.

On Monday, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe was unveiled with a streamlined look, updated suspension, more seats and more customization options to better stand out at the golf club.

The most significant change to the latest AMG four-door is an upgrade to the available three-chamber air suspension. Two pressure relief valves were installed on the outside of each damper. One valve controls the rebound stage, while the other controls the compression stage and each valve is infinitely variable. According to AMG, the new valves offer a wider spread between driving comfort and performance damping forces.

The engine has not changed. It’s a supercharged 3.0-liter in-line 6 with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that is breathed in by AMG for 429 hp and 394 lb-ft of torque. An AMG-tuned all-wheel drive transfers the power to the ground via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes-Benz said the large hatchback can sprint from 0 to 100 mph in 4.4 seconds to reach an electronically limited top speed of 174 mph.

The V-8 powered 63 and 63 S models and the plug-in hybrid model 73e have not yet been described in detail.

The only ways to recognize a refreshed 2022 AMG GT 53 4-door Coupé from the outside are a multitude of new paint colors and the newly available red brake calipers, which are optional for the standard iron brakes. The optional carbon-ceramic brakes still have bronze-colored brake calipers.

Buyers can customize their AMG 53 4-door Coupé with four new matt finishes, five metallic colors and two solid colors. A new AMG Night Package II has accents in dark chrome or black. A new Manufactory Exclusive Edition spoils the most luxurious models with a V8 styling package, exclusive paintwork and 21-inch AMG forged wheels.

Inside, the leather-lined interior is taken over with the exception of the steering wheel. The new AMG-specific double-spoke steering wheel of the current E-Class has found its way into the AMG GT 4-door. It has two round digital dials that allow a quick change between the drive train, stability control and AMG programs. The dashboard carries with its 12.3-inch digital instrument and the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest version of the MBUX system from Mercedes-Benz. For those who want to transport more than four people, a new rear bench option offers space for five people and the ability to fold the rear seat flat to expand the cargo space. Like the exterior, the interior also offers new color options.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t said how much the 2022 AMG GT 53 4-door coupe will cost when it hits dealerships later this year, but the current model is $ 99,995.
